and "Hotlanta" are just a few names used to describe this sprawling
metropolis of over 1 million people. Ranked #1 for the most new single-family
homes constructed for 13 consecutive years, Atlanta offers a variety of neighborhoods
and budgets for all home buyers.
Housing in the Atlanta metro area can run from under $100,000 for emerging and
gentrifying areas such as East Point to over $1 million for hot, trendy areas
like Morningside and Midtown. Atlanta's transportation system provides easy mobility
for those located within the city limits; but its highways offer fast access to
suburbs at non-peak times.
Atlanta boasts a vibrant night-life centered on Peachtree Street and in the Buckhead

Demographics
Sixty-one percent of Atlanta's population is African-American, 33% White and 2%
other. Atlanta has been dubbed a "Black Mecca" because of the large
numbers of Black upper-class professionals who have migrated to the city.
Twenty-two percent of Atlanta's residents have children under the age of 18 years
old living with them. The median household income is over $50,000. Twenty-two
percent of the population is under 18 years of age, 13% is 18 - 24 years old,
35% is between 25 and 44 years, 19% is aged 45 - 64, while 9% of the population
65 years or older.
Education
Atlanta is the home of many notable and prestigious colleges such as Emory University
and Spelman College.
